Quadcycles by Roger - AtomicZombie builders gallery

"Here's two new ones. I built the small one for my wife and I and the orange one for my Mom & Dad. One uses Kyoto influence and the other is just a cheap throw together of old parts. Both are a blast to ride! :) " Roger

Kyoto Cruiser Recumbent Social Trike  - 15.8MB PDF Plan

The Kyoto Cruiser Recumbent Trike is designed to be a real alternative to the automobile for many short trips, errands and leisure rides. The trike has a very sturdy frame and wheels, and since seats are placed side-by-side rather than inline, you can enjoy a sociable cycling experience with a partner. The Kyoto Cruiser is very comfortable thanks to its recumbent seat design, but it also has a seat height typical to many small cars to aid visibility and navigation in traffic.

The Kyoto Cruiser Recumbent Trike is loaded with unique features, including a full range of gears and 20 inch wheels for extreme hill climbing capabilities, and independent front and rear shifting systems so that each rider can pedal at his or her own pace and comfort level. Handling is very smooth with the ability to turn tight circles and stop efficiently using dual rear disc brakes. The unique sliding bottom bracket system can be easily adjusted to suit any rider size so that youngsters and adults alike can enjoy the experience. With gas prices shrinking our wallets and our hectic lives leaving us with limited time to reduce expanding waistlines, the Kyoto Cruiser may be the answer to many of our daily problems!

With a few days of hard work you will have a very sturdy and sporty looking trike that not only performs as good as it looks, but is a true joy to ride on short and long hauls. Most of the parts can be easily found at bicycle shops, thrift stores, hardware stores, or from scrap bicycle parts. Like all Atomic Zombie designs, we aim to keep things as simple and effective as possible, requiring only common parts and basic tools. Of course, there is always room for experimentation and alternative designs based on your own style or needs.

StreetFighter Recumbent Quad Cycle  - 16.3MB PDF Plan

The StreetFighter Recumbent Quad Cycle is a one-of-a-kind, four-wheeled racing machine that  can best be described as half Indy car, half exercise bicycle! The  ultra low and laid back recumbent riding position gives you a race car  like feel, allowing you to push hard into the corners without fear of a  rollover, and to deliver as much power as your legs can output directly  into the cranks. If building an extremely cool looking, high quality  and fast recumbent cycle is your idea of fun, then the StreetFighter is  the perfect choice.

The StreetFighter is made mostly of standard  bicycle components and square steel tubing, with only two small parts  that need to be machined. If you own a welder and an angle grinder,  then you have all you need to build your own racing quad in your  garage. Because of the unique "hubless" rear wheel design and use of  standard BMX rims, you will not have to spend a fortune on custom  bicycle wheels. The StreetFighter also features dual disc brakes and an  adjustable bottom bracket so riders of any height can enjoy the ride.

The StreetFighter is a great way to experiment with human power, and is  a perfect candidate for a full body, allowing much higher speeds. There  is plenty of room for your own customization due to the simplicity of  the square tube frame. The unique transmission system can be easily  adapted to many other types of vehicles. The StreetFighter is also  robust enough to carry heavy riders.
